100% Weissburgunder/ Pinot Blanc. Electric Weissburgunder with a toasty nose an almost Chardonnay-esque profile. Tons of structure and depth of fruit show that this wine could lay down for years to come. Opok is the rocky clay and silt that sits over chalky marl subsoil. Roland Tauss is from the cool, rainy southern Austrian region of Styria. These bucolic rolling hills are often referred to as the Tuscany of Austria for their beauty, along with their chalky marl sub soils, here called Opok. While Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay reign supreme, Roland focuses on a variety of grapes, including Blaufrankisch, which takes on a cool, airy, blue fruited profile here.
