Weingut Messmer, Riesling Kabinett Feinherb 'Muschelkalk' 2019

100% Riesling. Organic. Nestled in the forested slopes of the Haardt Mountains in the southern Pfalz, Messmer has so much soil diversity among his grand cru sites that he chooses to label his wines by terroir along with corresponding vineyard names. Muschelkalk originated in shallow fossiliferous sea basins with predominantly calcareous deposits that have solidified and formed into rocks. The limestone rocks are usually characterized by light gray to beige hues. The wine is light and delicate with a gentle stone fruit freshness and full of ripeness.
