Certified Organic. Grapes: Zweigelt and Sauvignon Blanc. The Zweigelt is from Strasser Nesselthal - planted 2001 on loess with gravel soils at 319 m altitude. Sauvignon Blanc is from Strasser Steinbuhel planted 2007 on gley soils at 244 m altitude. Whole bunch Zweigelt co-fermented with crushed Sauvignon Blanc for 14 days. Fermentation with native yeasts. Aged for 6 months in used French oak (228 liters of 4-12 years old). 8 mg/l sulfur added before bottling. No fining, no filtration, just handled by gravity. The Martha Rouge is the last of three experimental natural wines made by Martin (named after his three daughters) as a way for him to continue learning and pushing the limits of his winemaking abilities.
