100% Gamay. Damien Coquelet bottled his first vintage, 2007, at just 20 years of age. Damien learned everything from his step-father, Georges Descombes. Ever since he was a child he instilled the same values as his step-father when it comes to wine making: organic viticulture, hand harvesting, native yeasts, zero intervention in the cellar and little if any sulfuring when bottling. This wine is a medium-bodied Morgon with strawberry and cherry aromas and a hint of lemon and stone. The Morgon Cote de Py shows lovely aromas of raspberry, strawberry, citrus and rose, very pretty and bright. The palate shows a bit more stucture and darker fruit than the Damien's Chiroubles, with sappy strawberry fruit, a bit of citrus and a more earthy character. The finish is refreshing and long with juicy berry fruit and firm acidity. Serve quite cool.
